What we sequence

Whole genome sequencing

Human and non-human genomes, deep or low-pass. The depth we sequence to is set by what you need to detect and how confidently, and it is agreed with you at scoping rather than inherited from a tier.

Whole exome and targeted panels

Exome capture and targeted panels. The capture chemistry and the coverage we sequence to are chosen against your target region and the variant class you need to detect, and confirmed before the run.

RNA sequencing

Total RNA, mRNA and small RNA, including degraded and low-input material. Reads per sample are set against the transcripts you need to quantify rather than a published figure.

Methylation profiling

Genome-wide and targeted methylation profiling, with the method and scope selected with you at scoping. See Library Preparation and Sequencing for which methylation workflows are routine here and which are established for a confirmed project.

Metagenomics and shotgun sequencing

Shotgun metagenomic sequencing, with taxonomic and functional profiling available as analysis. See the Metagenomics page for sample types and analysis output.

NULISAseq readout

The sequencing readout for high-plex NULISA panels, run in our own laboratory.

Library preparation

We prepare libraries in-house for whole genome, whole exome and RNA sequencing, and we sequence libraries you have prepared yourself. See Library Preparation and Sequencing, and Premade Library Sequencing.

Deliverables and turnaround

Specifications

Depth, coverage, read length and output are configured to the study, not fixed by a service tier.

We do not publish a menu of tiers for you to size yourself against, because the only figure worth having is the one that answers your question, and it is decided with you at scoping rather than inherited from a price list.

Input requirements work the same way: we assess the material you actually have instead of measuring it against a threshold printed on a web page. You get a straight answer on what is workable, in writing, before you commit a sample.

The table below is what is fixed. Everything configurable is agreed with you first.

Platform

Element Biosciences AVITI

Read configurations

Single-end and paired-end at a range of read lengths, configured to the application at scoping

Output range

Low, medium and high-output kit options. Output is matched to the depth your study needs rather than sold as a tier

Base quality

Consistently Q30+

Multiplexing

Individually addressable lanes for project separation

Library input

Assessed on the material you have, by library type and sample condition. Tell us what you hold and we will tell you what is workable before you commit it

Premade libraries

Accepted. See Premade Library Sequencing

Data delivery

Demultiplexed FASTQ with QC metrics and run reporting as standard. Aligned and variant-level output is scoped with the analysis. Delivered by secure link on every project, with no portal login and no file size limits

Bioinformatics

Alignment, variant calling, annotation and filtering included. Extended analysis scoped separately

Turnaround

2 to 3 weeks from sample receipt where we prepare the libraries, set by library type and depth. Premade libraries, where you send a finished library, are 5 to 10 business days. Confirmed at quote

Quality framework

HTA licence 12818. GCP-compliant workflows. Aligned to ISO 15189

Regulatory status

For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures

Analysis and data delivery

Delivered as standard

Genomics analysis, built around your study

Proteomics-linked and multi-omic analysis is routine

Raw data alongside processed

Demultiplexed FASTQ files, QC metrics covering the relevant sequencing steps, and detailed run reporting.

All sequencing data is delivered by secure link, on every project, whether we prepare the libraries or you send them ready. No portal login and no file size limits.

SAMPLE SUBMISSION

Check your sample or library requirements

We do not gate this page with a threshold table, because a threshold printed on a page cannot see your sample. Requirements are assessed on the material you actually have.

Sample types accepted:

DNA and RNA across the usual sample types, including FFPE and low-input material. Send us the type and how it was preserved.

Input quantity:

assessed by library type and sample condition, and confirmed with you before anything is consumed.

Quality thresholds:

RIN, DIN, concentration and purity are read against what your application actually needs, not against a single published cut-off.

Premade libraries:

tell us how the library was prepared and quantified, and send the adapter and index information. What is workable is assessed on the library rather than set by a published minimum. See Premade Library Sequencing.

Shipping:

confirmed at scoping alongside the sample type, so material arrives in the condition the workflow needs.

Manifest:

sample ID, type, concentration, volume, library type and index information where applicable.

Tell us what you have and we will tell you plainly whether it is workable, and what it will take, before you commit it. We QC on receipt and confirm condition within two working days, before anything is consumed. Where a sample or library fails incoming QC, you hear about it before we proceed.

Shipping samples internationally

We can arrange collection and shipping, or work with your preferred courier. Either way we confirm the logistics, temperature control and documentation at scoping, before any samples move.

How a sequencing project runs with us

1. Scoping conversation
You speak to a senior scientist. We define what the sequencing has to achieve, the appropriate configuration and depth, and the analysis the data will need.
2. Quote
A written quote with configuration, deliverables and a delivery date, returned within one working day.
3. Sample or library receipt
Logged, inspected against the manifest and QC-checked on arrival, with written confirmation of receipt and condition within two working days.
4. Library preparation
Where we are preparing libraries. Premade libraries go straight to QC and sequencing.
5. Sequencing
On AVITI, in our own laboratory, with the run configuration agreed at design stage.
6. Analysis and delivery
Processed and raw data, QC metrics and run documentation, with the analysis agreed at scoping.

Why Element AVITI

AVITI is built around a different chemistry to the dominant sequencing platforms, and the differences show up in the data.

Rolling circle amplification

Element’s amplification approach produces low amplification error rates, which matters most when you are calling low-frequency variants and need to distinguish signal from chemistry.

Profile amyloid, multiple tau species, NfL, GFAP, synaptic proteins and neuroinflammatory mediators from a single CSF or plasma draw.

Used in Alzheimer’s disease, ALS, frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson’s disease, Lewy body disease and rare neurological disorders.

Reduced index hopping

Molecular design that minimises cross-sample contamination in multiplexed runs. On a pooled cohort, index hopping is the failure mode that quietly corrupts everything downstream.

Q30+ base quality

Consistently high base quality, supporting reliable variant calling.

PK/PD biomarker work, target engagement, toxicology panels, longitudinal monitoring and early-phase clinical trials.

Absolute quantitation is often required for regulatory or cross-study comparability.

Low duplication rates

Fewer duplicate sequences means more usable reads from each run.

Individually addressable lanes

Projects can be physically separated on the same run, so a small study does not have to wait for a full flow cell.

Flexible throughput

Low, medium and high-output kit options, plus Freestyle kits for diverse input materials and on-instrument library conversion where it suits the workflow. We match capacity to the project.
